THE MESSAGE FROM THE BAMOUN COMMUNITY

INVITATION NGUON USA 2026

We come to you inspired by the voice, heart, and soul of the great Bamoun nation, though far from our homeland, but never separated from our terroir, our drums, and traditions.
You are fraternally invited to NGUON USA 2026, which will take place from August 14 to 15, 2026, in Washington, D.C. Nguon USA 2026 is not just another celebration, but another platform in America for the expression of our identity, culture, and unity. NGUON USA 2026 follows the recommendation of His Majesty Fon Nabil Mbombo Njoya to see a NGUON organized in the USA where his sons and daughters will converge ahead of the main celebration in Foumban. NGUON USA 2026 ought to be a biannual event that rotates among the Bamoun communities in the USA.
From August 14 to 16, 2026, we will not just celebrate among ourselves—no, we will affirm the vitality of the Bamoun spirit in front of our children, our host country, and the world. NGUON USA 2026 belongs to all of us and will not be satisfied with any of us sidelined as spectators. Your talent, passion, and experience will therefore be a pillar of its success. Together, we will prove that the Bamoun bond remains strong, even far from the walls of La'a Nguon.
“One finger cannot undo a knot,” so let's make NGUON USA 2026 our summit. An event like this is ambitious, it will need your commitment, your presence, and your various contributions.
May the peace and blessings of our Ancestors and Sultan-King Nabil Mbombo Njoya be with you.
Thank you in advance for your commitment and generosity towards our community.

THE BAMOUN KING PALACE

The King Palace

Foumban Royal Palace built by King Ibrahim Njoya in 1917
The Foumban Royal Palace is a historical building in the city of Foumban, capital of Noun. It is the seat of the Kingdom of Bamum, where the Chief-Superior of the peoples of the valley of the East bank of the Noun resides.

The royal palace of Foumban, where the king of the Bamum still resides today, was built in 1917. The Palace Museum tells the history of the dynasty of the Bamum kings from 1394 to the present day, with information on the most famous of the Bamum kings, Ibrahim Njoya, who died in 1933 and who created a writing system at the end of the 19th century called Bamum script.

THE NEW ROYAL MUSEUM

In the beating heart of the Western Region of Cameroon, the Historic Museum of the Bamoun Sultanate stands as a testament to the rich tapestry of African heritage and the indomitable strength of the Bamoun people. As the brainchild of architect Issofou Mbouombouo, the museum's architecture pays homage to the emblem of the Bamoun - a double-headed snake, a spider, and a double-mounted gong. Each element encapsulates the essence of the Bamoun people - strength, wisdom, hard work, and unity.

Perched 1200 meters above sea level and spanning an area of 7.625 km², the Bamoun Sultanate's roots can be traced back to 1394 AD under the reign of Nshare Yen. Over the centuries, the Sultanate has witnessed the rule of 19 kings, each contributing to the growth and expansion of the kingdom. A significant milestone was achieved during the reign of King MbueMbue in the 1780s,
